Named Gifts

In early 1987, the Foundation embarked on an exciting program called Named Gift Opportunities, wherein parts of the Museum's physical plant and displays within the Museum could be sponsored by individuals, corporations, associations and other interested parties. This sponsorship is an unequaled opportunity to associate with a specific Museum area or exhibit through a contribution to the Foundation.

Named Gift Opportunities have generated more than $28,000,000 during the years past to help fund and produce the wonderful world-class museum in existence today. Sponsorship opportunities range from $1,000 to $10,000,000 for the following:

• Pre-World War II Aircraft
• World War II Aircraft
• Korean War Aircraft
• Vietnam War Aircraft
• East, West, South Wings & Main Deck
• National Flight Academy

Participation in the sponsorship program is subject to the following provisions: 

• The charitable donation may be made in the form of a single cash donation, or a two to five year pledge schedule.
• The charitable donation for Named Gift Opportunities is applied to the Capital Development Fund. Donations which sponsor aircraft and Museum exhibits will be applied to the Restoration and Exhibit Development Fund. In those cases in which a donor wishes to sponsor a Museum aircraft or exhibit and contribute to the National Flight Academy, that portion of the donation that exceeds the cost of sponsorship will go to the Capital Development Fund for the National Flight Academy.
• The sponsorship of an item does not imply ownership or control over the presentation or use of the item sponsored; these areas are under the direct control of the Museum Director.
• Sponsorship of an individual item such as an aircraft available in the program does not guarantee continuous display of the item in the Museum.

To assure that one is maintaining maximum tax and financial advantages as a charitable donor, please consult a tax advisor concerning individual circumstances and applicable tax laws before completing arrangements for a gift. All sponsors will be appropriately recognized within the area/exhibit/aircraft, etc., sponsored.
